Stories of the Pinto, a road well traveled..

OUR PINTO STAMPEDE STORY

by: Wayne and Andrew

It was a real pleasure the entire trip, never enjoyed myself more, met alot of great Pinto members.

I know the grandson will always have fond memories of the Pinto Stampede with his grandpa and I was so pleased to see him get a Ford Pinto watch. I expect he will have his Pinto in the local car shows here beside my blue Pinto. We need to get our Pinto family together more often, it was just to enjoyable, appreciate all you did make it happen Norm.

MY PINTO STAMPEDE STORY

by: Jim Madison

It's all about the Pinto:

When I met my wife 30 years ago it was in a Pinto
When I moved across the country the east coast it was in a Pinto
My wife was in labor, she was rushed to hospital in a Pinto
My wife & son were drove home from the hospital in a Pinto
I moved back to the Midwest in '82 in a Pinto
I delivered pizzas to save enough to open my first business in a Pinto
I traveled around the country with my family towing a camper in my Pinto
I was on the showroom floor with dad when he bought Pintos new
I bought my red 79 from dad in 82 & kept it since
When dad died I drove it in the funeral
I have owned over 20 Pintos in 30 years (I Have 4 now)
These are some of the reasons I couldn't miss the stampede event

MY PINTO STAMPEDE STORY

by: Richard Metcalfe & RYSCAR

Two years ago, when first I saw, through the Pinto Car Club of America, that a "Pinto Stampede" to Carlisle PA was in the infancy of being planned, I decided right then to be a part of it. Being the "Lone Pinto" up here in Northern Ontario I would have the opportunity to see other Pintos and meet other Pinto owners and attend the Holy Grail of car shows in Carlisle. Being retired I had all the time needed to plan and take part. I wanted to be there to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the Pinto and be a part of history in the making.

MY PINTO STAMPEDE STORY

by: Randy Scritchfield

I heard about the Stampede from the PCCA website. I knew I had to do this so I planned 2 weeks vacation for it.

I bought my Pinto last July from a guy in Dallas TX. When I got it home (Springfield, MO) I found out that the car would barely move on it's own power. It had a 302 from a 1974 and a C4 transmission from a 1966 something. It also has a 9" rear end, and that turned out to be the best part. It's from a 1957 passenger vehicle which means it's the shortest rear end ford made, it fit perfect! But it had 4.11 gears and a spool. I knew if I was going on the Stampede I would have to rebuild or replace the entire drive train.

MY PINTO STAMPEDE STORY

by: Mark Goodman

I found out about it through the Ford Pinto Car Club website as well as Dave Kawa and Cookieboy. I had been hoping to make the 40th Anniversary since everyone started talking about it three or so years ago but with my job situation at the time, it was not looking good. I guess someone was looking out for me because about nine months before everything was to kick off, I got the call from the TSA that I had been hoping to receive for over a year. Once training got underway, I knew in my heart that we would make the show and Stampede.

I was even able to get the word out EARLY at JSOnline.com

MY PINTO STAMPEDE STORY

by: Karen Goodman

Honestly I knew very little about this whole trip and the people involved before we left. Things unfolded to me when we were on the journey. Please understand I am a control freak about long trips so I was not at ease with this.

I was reluctant to go at first. My job is demanding and I am the only one that does my particular job so I am apprehensive about taking more then a day here or there off. Plus since I obviously don't know much about the club and didn't know about the Stampede this is Mark's thing and not how I wanted to spend my vacation time. I was promised that our dear sweet friend Brian Campbell would be able to join the trip and I did not want to pass up the chance to see him since we don't get to very often.

FRESH OUT OF PINTOS!!

by: Brian Saunders

First, as a Viet Nam Veteran, Thanks for taking on the Wounded Warrior Project. I'll be making a donation. I just wish someone had thought enough of us when we came back to do something like that. We were only doing a job at the time, same as these boys.

I'm proud to say that I am a Canadian Veteran of the Viet Nam War. US Army, January 6, 1968-January 6, 1969. I was taught in high school that the war (Yeah, we called it a war) was about stopping communist aggression so I had no problem with the ideology....

A STORY FROM THE ROAD WELL TRAVELED..

by: Steve Thomsen

When you are young one of the most coveted items one yearns for is a drivers license and his or her own set of wheels. I was no different & at the ripe old age of 16 I snared the license & my 1st car, a '55 Chevy 210 wagon. Still in high school at the time; it was a dream come true but after some budget breaking accident damage to the Chevy it was time to sweet talk Mom/Dad into some help with my 1st NEW car!

It was late in 1970 if I remember correctly & my mom & I ended up at Downey Ford out here in California where I was running my eyes over a Pinto in Dark Green Metallic. A week later after signing my life away I drove off the lot in that same Pinto. My 1st brand new car.

THE TALE OF THE FLYING PINTO

by: Doug Duncan

From the first day it hit the lots in 1970, I was in love with the Ford Pinto. It was clean and it was sporty, much more so than my beloved 1967 Volkswagen Beetle (my first car) that I still owned at the time. I wasn't in the market at the time, but that didn't stop my ogling one every time one passed by. I knew one was in my future, it was only a matter of time...

THE PINTOS OF DAYS GONE BY..

by: Brian Campbell a.k.a. The Cookieboy

I have owned a few in my time, here is a story about one of my favorites.

After I moved back to Minnesota from California I was in search of a good used cheap car. Always the case back then I didn't have much cash so cheap was the key, used was necessary and good was only if I was lucky...
